Tips on preventing the novel coronavirus

The viral pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus is a new disease that has not been previously identified in humans, and the guideline is formulated based on current understanding of the pathogen, which is used to prevent the public from the epidemic during its prevalence.

I. Reduce the outside activities

1. Don’t go to the epidemic areas.

2. Stay at home as much as possible, and reduce calls on relatives and friends during the Spring Festival Holiday.

3. Decrease your activities in the public areas, such as common bath pools, hot springs, cinemas, internet bars, KTVs, shopping malls, public transportations, exhibition halls, etc.

II. Increase individual protection and handwashing

1. Wear masks as much as possible. When you go to the public areas, go to hospital and take the public transport, please wear surgical masks or N95 masks.

2. Keep your hands clean. Don’t touch the public goods and parts in the public areas; wash your hands when you return back from the public places, after sneezing, before eating foods and after using the toilet; don’t touch your eyes, nose and mouth before washing your hands; cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing.

III. Monitor your health and seek medical advice

1. Actively monitor the health index of your family, and measure body temperature when they feel sick. Pay much attention to your children’s body temperature.

2. If you have the suspicious symptoms affected by the novel coronavirus, please wear masks and go to hospital nearby. The symptoms include fever, coughing, sore throat, chest tightness, dyspnea, poor appetite, feeling weak, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, headache, nervousness, conjunctivitis, muscular soreness, etc. When you go to a hospital for medical advice, please avoid taking the public transport means and don’t go to the public places as much as possible. Tell the doctor whether you go to the epidemic areas and if you touch someone after you have the symptoms, and cooperate the doctor to make a survey.

IV. Maintain good health habits

1. Open your window and keep ventilation.

2. Don’t share the towel among the family, keep your home clean and dry the clothes in the sun.

3. Don’t spit everywhere; pack your phlegm and snot and throw it into the dustbin.

4. Maintain the nutrition and do some exercise.

5. Don’t touch, buy and eat wild animals; don’t go to the markets that sell poultry, marine products and wild animals as much as possible.

6. Prepare the thermometer, surgical masks or N95 masks, and household disinfectants.
